I finished up putting down the Hushmat last night. I completely covered the entire interior. The car already "sounds" quieter and I'm sure the heat blocking benefits of the Hushmat will help this summer during those long drives when the console heats up. Next I'll be gluing the carpet underlayment down - hopefully I'll be able to finish that this weekend and be ready for gluing the carpet down next week. Taking it nice and slow. The Hushmat is great stuff to work with and very easy to install!!

That is really nice. I bet that Hushmat will make a huge difference in noise and heat. Could you tell me where you purchased the Hushmat, and how much you purchased?

Stuff can be a bit expensive but I went on Google and simply typed in Hushmat Black Bulk PF500B and found the least expensive dealer. For that day, it was CarJamz in Illinois (847-201-1320). $199.00 for the 30 sheet bulk set in black (also comes in silver). Weighs almost 40 pounds in the box so shipping is a bit. I think it was around $30.00-40.00. But even so, this source was way cheaper than even Ebay.

As mentioned the material is extremely thin, very flexible and very easy to install. Peel off backing paper and lay down. Adhesive is great, not real sticky and you can easily move it around as you place it and even shortly after laying down. By the next day, you can still remove it if needed but it is much tougher and the sheets tend to tear if pulled up. Sticks to anything, even areas I had sprayed with WD-40.

There was a recent article that looked at these type of items and Hushmat was far and away the best at cutting heat (I think over 80% reduction if I remember correctly). That, and the fact that it is so thin that it really shouldn't effect anything when it comes to carpet installation, is what sold me. As I said, when I "slam" the car doors I can already hear a difference in the way it sounds!

It took all 30 sheets to completely do my entire car (67 convertible) from nose to tail. As you can see, I covered almost every surface including the transmission tunnel under the radio/dash. I am really hoping it cuts down on the heat transfer to the floorboards and transmission tunnel.

So far:

Step 1 completed - deconstruction of interior
Step 2 completed - old carpet and padding removed
Step 3 completed - carpet glue removed from all surfaces (this is probably not necessary unless there are chunks since this stuff sticks to well, but I am a bit retentive and needed to know that the old glue was gone under my new carpet)
Step 4 completed - Hushmat installed

Up next:

Step 5 - install padding
Step 6 - install carpet
Step 7 - re-install interior

I'll keep ya posted with more pics!

Me too! Got the entire rear padding today. Ran out of glue. Will order some more and finish up this week.

Look at the can of glue from Al, it is made by DAP.
You can get more at Lowes - DAP Weldwood Contact Cement for 9.99.
Cheaper and saves shipping as well as time.

Absolutely could have and probably would have had better heat results than the old padding. Just wanted to keep things "original" by installing the old padding. No other reason.

Nice installation job.
I have done a few of my cars with Dynamat (very similar product) and the results are excellent.
While installing I found that using a heat gun will make conforning to different shapes becomes much easier.
In my 65 coupe I did the inside of the roof and the doors and the noise reduction is really good. The rest of the car is also done primarilly for heat purposes and again the results are great.
I also did a 62 which does not have a heater. In the past while driving in cool weather the car heated up by the heat coming through the floors and firewall. No more heat, I guess the heater will go back in the car.

I'm hoping to see a definite heat drop inside the car. As mentioned, noise in a convertible is a little less important to me.
