ordered thsi vacuum hose kit, but after looking don't think it matches the originals

ordered this for my 68 but after ordering and clicking to see the enlarged picture the hoses have color coded lines down them...my originals don't unless it wore off.

or are they supposed to have these color coded lines down them? I was just thinking paragon sold pretty much perfectly original looking stuff so I didn't look good enough before I bought the kit.

any thoughts? do you guys use this kit and get full credit?

here is the link to what I odered http://www.corvette-paragon.com/p-34...-hose-kit.aspx and here is a picture of it below.

Brandon, yes the original hoses were color coded. At least they were on the '69's. I think the colors were red green and yellow if i remember correctly. Back when I did mine I found some repo hose kits had a larger OD than the originals and this made it hard to get the hoses on the multi port vaccum connecters.

      Brandon,

As Lawrence stated '69 was color coded, not sure about '68 but it would make sense that it would be for running the lines. I find that Doc Rebuild has the best when it comes to vacuum lines.

        Agreed.

Check with Paragon to see whose hose kit they sell. If it's not the Doc's, just return it.

Brandon, now that I am home from work (after a 16 hour double shift) I dug out my old 1969 AIM and both the headlight and wiper section show where the different color coded hoses hook up. If you don't have an AIM you should get one for your car. They can be a great aid to go along with the Factry Service Manual. The NCRS store has them for sale at discounted price to NCRS members.

            Brandon,
Very early (first few thousand, I think) 1968s had smaller more thin-walled vacuum hoses than later 1968. Chevrolet changed to the thicker walled hoses because the first ones collapsed in service. I hope your car isn't that early, because you will not find any suitable replacement hoses for that system.

I'm not sure when they settled out an a final design for the vacuum system, but I know there were substantive changes as late as October 1969. At that point they went from one headlight vacuum relay to two.

Your public profile doesn't give me a clue as to whether this applies to you, but I am just throwing the information into the wind to see where it lands.

Brandon, the 68's are color coded as is my original Jan 68 built car. If you need help drop me a note.

Thanks for the replies guys! some of you noted 68's did infact come with color coded ones except early ones..

my car actually is pretty early it was built in 67...the body is dated D07 which I believe stands for Nov. 7th 1967...so not sure if that was early enough to came without color coded lines or not.

                anyone know?
