    67 Trip Odometer reset

I have checked this board for an answer and have not found one. I can't get my trip odometer on my 67 to go to all zero's. It will either go to 9999 or 1111. I have reset it with the cable and with out the cable. but it won't go to all zero's. All my gears are in excellent shape. None are stripped. The cable works fine and works smoothly. Any help would be appreciated. Patrick

    Patrick,

That problem is a result of two things that usually go wrong. First the numbers are 40 years old and will stick together as the small wheels wear out. (the small wheels inside) Then there is the cable that has accumulated rust and dirt for 40 years. It may also have suffered a kink or two during removal and replacement of the cluster.

To get the trip working really good you will have to replace or service the number set and lube the reset cable as well as checking it for kinks.

The replacement trip numbers work great but they are not exact replacements of the originals. The numbers themselves are not quite as large as the originals. We're splittin' hairs here but they aren't exact.

    Hope this helps you

    JR

        Patrick,

I turn mine on my 67 to 9999 one way, then turn it to 0000 the other way, or just drive it a little and it will flip to 0000.
