    67' Convertible top installation question

    Hi,
I have just finished restoring my 67' convertible top frame and am now ready to have the top installed. PLEASE advise what I must have done to insure maximum judging points. Things such as rear trim bead length(the vinyl beadover rr window), various correct dimensions, and ANY things to insure it's installation as it was at St Louis. If it makes any difference the top is black and and from Al Knoch purchased 2 years ago, dated.
    Thanks munch!!!

    Jerry,

Take a look at this post from the archives:

There are some pictures there of an original 67 white top.

Things to look for are the front windlace tuck in at the sides and the size and material of the front windlace (and the material of the rear wireon).

The front windlace should not be overly large and should be made of a crushed grain material slightly different from the diamond grain top material. The difference stands out more on a black top than a white one.

The rear wireon is of the same material as the front windlace. Don't know off the top of my head the distance down on the rear wireon trim piece, but it is longer on a 67 then prior years (maybe someone else will chime in, it is about 5" depending where you measure to).

Also the fit along the top of the door windows should be nice and straight and hide the weatherstrip.

There is an article in the 2007-2008 Winter Restorer on the top in the above post compared to my not nearly correct 67 top.

The length is easy. Look on the inside of the frame. The screw on original tips went all the way through. So you can see exactly where they were.
