    1967 435hp ?

Runs good when running on the center carb, back fires though the mufflers when floored, then takes off. On hooked the back carb and does the same, only half as bad. At idle, then floored, it almost dies, then takes off. Timeing is ok, points are ok, took one plug out tonight, looked ok, they are r43xls. Just bought the car in Washington state, I live in S.D., could the jets needs to be changed?

Hi Keith, I doubt the altitude is the problem. One thing, those are very COLD plugs. Let's see what others have to say. Bill.

Just a follow up, I know that's what GM calls for in the plug, but it just seems one range to low for me. Bill

I had a similar problem on my 400.. try disconnecting your choke linkage, and see how it performs. Once I DC'ed my choke, it runs awsome.
Now I just have to figure out how to adjust my choke..
        Good luck,
        Jim
