    Thermostat housing

I am looking for the correct thermostat housing for a 74 LS4 my JG has part # 336773 listed as correct, but I remember a discussion here and I thought part # 3972128 was said to be correct. Any judges/or members who have had success being judged, can you let me know which I should seek out?

    Thanks

All 1974's use a temperature switch for the emissions control system mounted in a fitting on the top of the thermostat housing. The GM #397128 has no provisions for such a fitting so you sure can't use it. You need the thermostat housing with a SINGLE fitting.

I show it as GM #336790. However, the casting number may have been 336773. I'm not 100% sure.

The 128 was a 73 part that is why it is listed in the 73-74 JG.
