The john deere blitz black worked great on my firewall and inner fenders so thanks for that tip!

However, I sprayed a little on my frame an radiator support and IMO that blitz black looks a little flat compared to what I have in my mind it was from the factory.

What is a good touch up paint for the frame while the engine is out and I'm freshening up the engine bay anyway? I want something that looks like it did when new.

Just curious what you guys have used, I know por 15 is a good choice but I'm just wanting something in a spray can for what I'm doing right now.

How authentic are you trying to be.
A lot of people like Krylon #1613, although its getting harder and harder to find. I used it and like the look very much but it really is too nice. Here's a picture of my 71. Over Restored.
I think you can vary the amount of gloss you get by how wet or dry you spray your paint. This will give you a MORE authentic look since I think the amount of shine varied from place to place on the same frame.

The frame was in excellent shape (the car lived a very sheltered life), I stripped myself, had it powder coated, sanded the powder coating with 400 and then sprayed #1613. It looks GREAT... too great. I was sad to put the body back on.
I'd say #1613 is a good choice since you have some. Don't make it too pretty.

I went and got some krylon paint today but I'm confused...I was wrong I didn't have any 1613 what I had was gloss black...

so anyway like I said I picked up some krylon 1613 today but the number is actually 51613...is this what you used and are talking about? it's called "satin black"

I was thinking 1613 was called "semi-gloss" but this is 51613 and called "satin"

so is this what I need or no? could you look on your cans if you have any left and see if they're 51613 and called satin?

You can get kylon KO1613 paint online. I told to use tough coat on the frame. It covers well and is very thick when it goes on.

I like it since it covers well and is easily sandable. Plus, it is a little thicker than KO1613 industrial. Makes it fill in the areas better.

Hi Brandon,
The Krylon #1613 has become very difficult to find. There have recently been some long discussions about it's availability and good substitutes. Do a search and I think you'll find some interesting info.
It's OLD #1613 on my frame, I have a small supply I bought when I heard it was disappearing from local sources. I think the threads I mention above will give you some good options with brand names.

advance auto parts has it. the new rust tough semi flat black is awsome! goes on smoother and fills and blends better(more body) and drys quick and hard best of all it leaves a sort of waxy semi gloss finish like i remember the original finishes.
