    1970 tires???

Need the advise of someone who has been there. What should I do about tires? (1970, currently has BF Goodrich radials, P225 70R15). At last years chapter judging I lost 22 out of 30 possible points on originality, got all the points for condition.

Should I buy Goodyear Speedway reproductions $1000 tires+$300 another set of rims? How many points would I loose on originality if I bought these?

    OR

Should I buy Goodyear Eagle GT, white letter, RADIALS, P225 70r15 for $500? Is that the size I would buy? How many points would I loose with these?

    Thank you,
    Jim Fox

    Re: 1970 tires???

I have used Goodyear Eagle GT's since the late 70's after seeing the P255/60/R15 Goodyears on the 78 and later Corvettes than what my 1970 originally came with. I know for a fact the Goodyear Eagle's have given a lot more mileage than the original tires on my 1970.

Goodyear just recently had some employees caught/arrested for selling their "secrets in tire making" to a foreign tire maker.

The foreign makers should consult Tony Stewart for "quality reports" on Goodyear tires !!!!

If spending $1300 for a set of tires and rims simply for judging purposes and no other reason makes sense to you and is important enough, go for it.

If driving the car is higher on the priority list, replace your existing tires with modern radials of the correct brand when your Goodrich radials wear out.
