63 Turn Signal Cancelling Assembly - Need Picture

I'm having a problem with the turn signals not cancelling on my 63. All of the cancelling mechanism parts (actuating ring, cancelling pawls, pawl spring, and the plastic cylinder thingy that mounts to the back of the steering wheel hub) are new, but I fear that I may have them assembled incorrectly.

My actuating ring assembly had the cancelling pawls mounted with the open ends facing out; it appears, according to the diagram in the shop manual, that the open ends should be mounted facing in, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to do that.

Does anyone have a picture that shows everything assembled to the actuating ring, including how the pawl spring hooks to the pawls?

    Thanks in advance!

Ken, The shop manual diagram is correct. The open ends of the Cancelling Pawls must face in so the round plastic Cancel Cam hits them. If you look carefully at the diagram, the little curved end of the Pawl Spring holds the lower corner of the Pawl. (the upper dotted lines that stop in the diagram) If your pawls are reversed it must have been assembled incorrectly. If so, you may have to bend the ends to remove them, then rebend after reinsertion.

I had similar trouble with this system, but with the detent spring. I had it backwards and it kept popping off. Finally found the diagram on page 12-17 in the 63 shop manual. I wish I took a picture of this assembly when I finally got it right.....sorry.
