    Radiator Core Replacement

I ordered a core replacement for my 72's original radiator from Dewitts and was wondering if this could be a DIY project. I'm not sure if I can find a local radiator shop to do the brazing of the end tanks. Where can you find info about how to do it? Just curious.
    Thanks!

    Bryan,
Your Going To Need A Radiator Shop To Re-attach Those Tanks, Its Not A Do It Youself Job. Pick -up A Yellow Pages Book Theres Always A Radiator Shop Somewheres Near By.make Sure To Remove The Metal Tag And Overflow Hose Retainer Before You Give To Them.

      Bryan,

I JUST did the same thing....there is a problem though, I got the new copper core, sent it off to a radiator shop for the change out. The shop got it all done and found the new Dewitts core was bad from the get-go THREE leaks!

So the next one came in and it worked, but not after I had to spend another $100 to get it changed out.

At the time of the problem, I found that Dewitts does not make the cores but the get them from another source. That concerns me as what are we really getting and are they going to hold up. Right now I'm hoping the new one lasts. Definitly not a warm fuzzy in my book!

I didn't think it would be a DIY task. I know of one radiator shop in the area that used to do the core replacement but they stopped doing them a few years back. I do have a lead on another shop that might be able to it.

The car is currently running a replacement radiator and the original is sitting in the corner.

DeWitts was running a special that included shipping so, I decided to take advantage of it. I hate to hear the part about leaking from the get go. Here's hoping it does not leak from the beginning and it holds up.
