What kind of transmission is this?

Can anyone give me a rough guess as to what transmission this is? I couldn't dig through all the crap to get any good numbers but since it's supposed to be from a 59 corvette and obviously isn't I thought numbers would be a moot point anyways. Thought I'd take a quick pic though to see if it has any value otherwise...

Does the bellhousing look correct for a 59?

    Thanks

Bellhousing is '57 Chevy by the looks of the mounting pads for the rear engine mounts on the bellhousing. The Trans is an early Muncie, probably '64 looking at the configuration of the case with the squared off block at the rear of the main case and the speedo potlet on the driver's side, but I may be seeing things that really aren't there. Speedo drive was drivers side 63-64 and went to the pass side in '65, although Pontiac versions retained the driver's side speedo for many years. More info when you get the numbers of the castings on the trans.

Looks like the Muncie M-20 that I have. Hard to tell though from the pictures. It doesn't look like my 1960 T-10.

Definitely not a T10 for a '59. Of no real value so I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands. Seriously if you send the casting numbers off of the main case and tail housing that would help ID the vintage of it. Also if it has any stampings post those also. Unless it's a rock crusher or something special it's not going to be worth what an original T10 for your '59 is.

By the way the block looks like a 327 so maybe the block and tranny go together.

Thanks guys but that's all the info I need on this.

This is the trany and engine of a car that I was considering buying and went to look at today. It's a project and supposed to be a 270hp car but all that's there to show that is an old high rpm redline tach. The body is a very nice no hit one with really nice paint and the frame and chassis are powder coated and "done" but that's about it. EVERYTHING else is taken apart and needs to be redone and put together. The car is also missing some high dollar parts and lots of "nickel and dime" parts.

I was just trying to get an idea of what some of the parts that are there would be worth(eg the transmission) to resell and put towards some correct parts. I can clearly see that unless he really lowers his price(he wants about 32k US) that who ever buys it will be way upside down in this car....

                  Greg,
The casting number on the block indicates a
                  62-64block &possibly a 65. Francis
