    1960 Clutch Fan Bolts

    Hi all,

Just wondering about the WB 2 bolts used to hold the clutch fan to the waterpump. The repros I've seen are zinc plated and I saw and original that I really couldn't tell. Most Grade 8 bolts I've seen, however, are black.

What is the plating on the WB 2 bolts?

    Thanks,

    Bob

In days-of-old most SAE grade 8 fasteners were black phosphate or black oxide finished. However, I believe the bolts used for the application you described were GM #186634. If so, these were a 5/16-24 X 1" hex head bolt of GM 300M material (SAE grade 8) that were ZINC PLATED.
