    Brake job issue - 1965

I'm looking at buying a car that appears in quite good condition. The 4 calipers were just resleeved and rebuilt. The rear passenger side wheel does not spin easily on a jack stand. There is some noticeable drag but apparently there is no unusual noise when driving.

What could have gone wrong ?

I know the pads were replaced and I assume the rotors were at least resurfaced.

I will check the adjustment on the parking brake but was wondering what else could it be.

Any help would be appreciated. Just trying to size this issue before I buy it.

    Mark,
It could be the wheel bearing, emergency brake, or the disc brake. Assuming the recent brake job was done correctly, one of the other two is most likely. Also are you spinning it with the half shaft attached? That involves the u-joints in the shafts and the rear end - posi or not? None of these are big repairs compared to the overall car.
    Good luck, Don H.

Depends on how well the brakes were serviced. If they just bolted on calipers and pads then you may still have issues. Turning rotors is not advisable unless an on the car lathe is used. Many times the rotors turned will runout worse then before since they were not faced on the axle like the factory did. Also the hoses should be replaced, if not over time they collapse and lock up the calipers. If left like this they will lock up and I've seen quarter panels burned up from them catching fire.Granted this is extreme but I saw it on a local 69 a couple of years ago.
I would question what was done and look it over. I would disconnect the 1/2 shaft and move the caliper up to check the bearings. If it drags then you have a PB or bearing issue.

I bought the car. Noticed no drag. After 30 minutes of driving I measured all wheels, rotors and calipers with my laser temp guage and they were all about 80F.

I decided to flat bed the 40 miles to my house just to be safe until I check everything.
