Firestone Tire for 72 Vette (Built Oct. 71)

I have a Firestone tire (F-70-15) supersport, wide oval, nylon cord, DOT 147, Dot VHU2, DXM301. I would like to know if this is an original tire for my 72 coupe base model. Thanks in advance -------- Bill

I'm not sure what tires came on your 72 from the factory, but Firestone Wide Ovals were definitely available as an option.

The standard tire was black with optional tires having a white stripe or raised white letters.

Raised white letter tires were either Goodyear, Firestone, and 72 only US Royal. White stripe tires were Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread or Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval.

if you have a build sheet or the original spare tire you can determine what tires came on your car if that matters to you.

To the best of my knowledge there is no source for the proprietary (before Spring 1971) codes for tires other than GoodYear.
