69 tri power engine lifing hook/eye

Gentlemen, my 69 L89 is missing the rear lifting hook and so documented by regional judges last year. I have a hook, but am struggling to get a clear definition of location, etc. The judging manual says for a small block it secures to a bolt from the bell housing to the engine and for a 427 it is located at the rear of the right engine cylinder head???? To what bolt? The hook has no bends in it indicating a vertical installation somewhere? Can you help, and is it possible to install this without removal of the engine. thanks. Hank

Would you like a picture? I can take one in the morning and post it if you desire.

Will do. Nice weather here. Good opportunity to pull it out from under the lift go for a ride.

Let me know if you need any other pictures.

I think on a L89 that hook should be natural or silver, not orange.
Usually attachments are the same color as the part they bolt to, and on an aluminum head engine they wouldn't have been painted.
