Need Part Number for BB Rocker Arm Stud

As you may know, I'm in the process of getting rid of the hot rod parts in my 3873858 heads for a L-72. I'm looking for the GM part # for the rocker arm stud. Duke says the hot rod part is probably OK, but I'm paranoid.

      Ken,

I don't know if it's stronger than OEM or not. The part number is 1900. The machinist said the manufacturer is PBM. But I don't think so, PBM part number 1900 is a pushrod. I don't know what I've got. So, what should I use? I thought maybe I could use the GM part number to cross reference it to a Federal-Mogul part number on the NAPAonline web site. But I don't know the GM #.

GM #3921912. A set of 16 is available under GM #12495498. I use ARP.

          Joe,

Thank you for the information. Is there anything wrong with the GM / Sealed Power part? Why do you suggest using ARP instead? How would I look up the ARP part number?

There's nothing wrong with the GM or Sealed Power studs. I expect millions have been used with no problems. I use ARP because they are the highest quality fasteners out there. I readily admit that for most applications they are "overkill", but I still use them anyway.

Actually, for your stock rocker arm application the ARP studs are probably not the ones to use, though. ARP strongly cautions against the use of their studs with stock-type, self-locking nuts, recommending they be used only with "poly-lock" type nuts. I know a lot of folks that have used them with self-locking nuts with no problems, at all, and I'm sure this practice is wide-spread. However, your best bet might be to stick with the GM (or Sealed Power) pieces.
