84-91 Valve Cover Paint

Does anyone have experience with the '84-'91 magnesium valve cover spray paint by Spruce and sold by Ecklers? Does it look like magnesium finiish? How many cans to do 4 wheels?

Are you talking about using the valve cover paint to "restore" or "simulate" the look of magnesium on wheels? If so, forget it. The 84 to 92 valve covers were magnesium. However, the paint used on them does not, in my opinion, at all resemble magnesium metal. Plus, it looks like a coating, not a natural metal appearance.

By the way, even with this paint, it's very difficult to restore the 84-92 valve covers to their original appearance.

Thanks Joe! I was going to consider using that paint to cover my aluminum Halibrands if it was close to mg color.

I stripped a set of 84 or 85 covers several years ago. Were they actually powder coated? It sure seemed like a very thick coating to me.

Yes, I think that it was some sort of powder coating or a similar sort of coating. That's one of the reasons that trying to re-finish them with the paint just doesn't come out looking as-original.
