    This is what the 1969 extensions, GM #3952742, look like. My recollection is that the 1968, GM #3921607, had a more gradual transition between the small and large diameters but still had the 2 slot small diameter.

        Joe, that 1st picture of this thread, Pauls' 68 tips, had what looks like that smother transition you referred to but it also kind of like looked like it may have had the 4 slit configuration. Sorry to turn a hangar question into a tip thing. Dale

          Some of the later SERVICE extensions had the more tapered transition and the "4 slit" configuration.

            I hope this helps, here is a pic that that good friend of mine sent me a few years ago explaining the differences. Hey the carpet even matches that from an earlier pic in this thread....

              At least one problem with the photo: one of the extensions shown as being for 1968 has a GM parts label on it which reads GM #3952742 and, based upon its configuration, it is, indeed, a 3952742. On it is hand-written "1968 only". The 3952742 is a 1969-only piece.

                You are right, That is the carpet at home down stairs. Dale needs a pair of 68 so I am looking into my stash to see what I have.
                The gentleman is trying to find the phone number of the guy that has the in need of restoration 68 L89 vert. I will give it to you when he calls me.
