Gentlemen, at a Regional event last year, I lost points for the 2 screws on each side of the 69 IP. Mine are bright with a small washer. The judge advised they should be painted. I have not been totally convinced, but cannot find a reference or previous thread. Can you help? Hank, NC

Re: 69 IP screws on each side finish
If I'm reading your question correctly, I believe that they're color coded to the dash color.

Re: 69 IP screws on each side finish
Hi Hank,
Because you mention 2 screws with washer, I'm wondering if you mean the screws on the SIDE of the pad on the hinge pillar. I believe those were chrome plated and quite a different head and washer than the 3 color co-ordinated screws with the conical washers on the top of each pad.

Re: 69 IP screws on each side finish
Thanks Alan. Yes I was talking about the screws on the side of the hinge pillar adjacent to the trim tag (on the drivers side). If those are correct, then I need to look at screws on (did you say top) to see if those are the ones the judge deducted for. Can you be specific with which other screws on top should be IP color? Re: 69 IP screws on each side finish
Hank,
here is a picture of 4 original dash side panel screws. All 69's had chrome plated pan head screws with a captured flat washer. I wonder if they were referring to the 2 screws that connect the center gauce cluster to the dash pads.

Re: 69 IP screws on each side finish
Hi Hank,
There are 3 screws evenly spaced (1 in the center) of each lower dash pad. These screws had 'conical' washers on them to help prevent the screws from pulling through the pad as they were tightened. These are the screws that match the pad color. They screw into little brackets with j/u-nuts mounted on the bottom of the upper dash pad.
Having BIG fun?!
Regards,
Alan
