Hi all,
The original engine from my 1960 base engine Corvette had the silk-screened instructions that said to service every 12,000 miles. The owners manual says 2,000. I also saw one 2x4 air cleaner with the identical 12,000-mile instructions. Any idea on why some say 12,000 miles?
The tang on the base of the air cleaner that fits into the carb has a notch for clearance for the shaft for the carb butterfly. The portion of the adjacent tang is one inch long.
Does anyone have an original air cleaner with the 12,000 mile instructions or a different length tang? If so, for what year car?
Does anyone have an original air cleaner for a '62 with 8,000-mile instructions?
Does anyone have an original open-element air cleaner without the tang?
Thanks,
Bob
