New RC-26 Repro, Almost there. but

Just got a new repro expansion tank cap for my 67 S/B.

The markings on the top are almost there compared to the original:

But the difference is very apparent from the top, that brass peened over stud really stands out.

    Here's the original for comparison:

But the main difference is when you turn them over:

    All that brass.

One good thing about the repro is that it probably works pretty well. And I can probably use it on the car, while I refurb my original (which I never had a problem with)

    Having fun,

Unfortunately that's the same not-really-close radiator cap that has been around for many years. See my article of a few years ago for specifics, as the problems with the RC-15 repros are the same ones that surface with this RC-26. LICS has one that is much better but still isn't "quite" perfect.

With all the brass that's part of this cap assembly, it's really more, functionally, an RC-15 with an RC-26 stamping. RC-26 caps, BY DESIGN, contain no brass components. Personally, I would not use this cap.
