Grease Pencil markings on top of paint on Block? 1969 L46

I've noticed some markings on the top side of the paint on Engine Blocks of some restorations. "X" on front of head etc. Where there any Markings typically visable on the surface of a 1969 350/350, or is this simply over-restoration?

Just trying to get as many "correct" details as possible on the resto.

    Thanks

I found a "CTH" written upside down on my 70 L-46 block. Told the block was upside down at some point of assembly. The letters were however under the paint. Still easy to see, since the yellow "CTH" acted like a primer, making the engine orange more vibrant over the letters

Interesting, what area of the block and what size approximately?

I've also seen it in Yellow on the front passenger head, but that dosen't make much sense since the Suffix decal was placed on the rear.

I hate to "over-detail" but get tempted by all of it.

How about posting a Couple pictures of your car Dennis?

The fathom Green in 69 and Donnybrooke in 70 are my favorite (and I've owned one of each)

I was looking for a Fathom green car again this time around but settled for Black.

            I'd like to see it.

This is from a SB chevy hot rodding book. Shows the assembly line and some markings on the block

Mines black at the moment. I use this photo to motivate me to return to the original....

John I found a GW under the paint of my CGW engine. Close to where the motor support bolt to the block. Richard
