Seat Belt Buckle - D ring question

I just bought a set of seat belts from Crane Corvette with new correct webbing and NOS 810 buckles for my 1960.

The problem is one of the D rings fits very snug and makes it tough to insert and release. The other D ring is fine.

Both D rings are stamped with the correct 235 number. The D ring that doesn't insert well is 92 thousanths of an inch thick and the D ring that fits well is 75 thousands of an inch thick.

Was this much variation normal with these seat belt buckles ?

Will I have a problem if I ever PV this car with a D ring that is snug ?

I will probably try to exchange it but the belt will need to be resewn.

Re: Seat Belt Buckle - D ring question

    Hi Mark
No, originals would not have that much variance in the thickness.
Yes, a PV problem, they should insert and release freely.
Yes, you have the best solution, exchange if you can.
