Need to Tap Into 12 Volt Wiring (1967)

I need to tap into full-time 12 volts. In other words, I need 12 volts even when the car is not running. I will keep the battery charger on for storage longer than a couple of weeks.

Which wire/location is the best place to make the connection and not be obvious?

Somewhere under the dash would be my first choice but would go under the hood if necessary.

I searched but could not find this topic discussed before.

    Thanks.

Just took an alarm system off a newly bought car, they had tapped into the lighter.

Just make sure the circuit has the proper size fuse for the load.

You didn't specify power requirements, but up to about 5 amps or so will be fine at this source.

The power requirement is 1 amp but I didn't want to use the fuse panel since it would be too obvious.
