    1970 hose bracket question

Attached is a picture of a correct 1972 car with hose bracket mounted on passenger fender lip, near the windshield. I have a 1970 car. The 1970 AIM shows this same bracket and (I believe ww door vacuum) hose routing. This bracket doesn't exist on my 70. The hoses get routed from firewall directly to the compartment under the ww door and never go near the passenger fender. Another low mileage original 70 car has hoses routed similar to mine, with no bracket mounted to fender lip. Does anyone know if the AIM manual is correct for 70 and that it should look like the 72 in this picture? Was there a change in the routing during some time in 70? Steve

    Hi Steve !

Is your car the same configuration as the one pictured. Looks like a big block with AC in the picture. Is that how yours is equipped ?

Many things in the AIM are not always correct. You'll notice, pertaining to the same hoses, the AIM shows metal tubes routing the hoses under the wiper motor at the firewall.(UPC12-A15). Also has the relay in the fenderwell, as well as the clip in question,(397708) That's a 71 thing. Not sure if late 70 may have had the tubes but my mid june 70 doesn't.

        Steve,
I Beleive That 70 Didnt Have The Bracket For The Wiper Vaccum Hoses, I Think The It Started Early 71, They Put The Hoses On A Flat Stack To Make Look Neat.70 They Taped The Hoses In A Bundle.

          Hi Steve,
I agree with Dennis that the clip appeared when the wiper relay moved from the cowl to the inner fender. My Jan built 71 has the clip your picture shows.

Tom, yes my car is equiped with big block and ac. Sounds like the consensus is the clip should not be there on 1970. Steve

Interesting. My car doesn't have the metal tube along the firewall either. Steve
