Should i change these two area's for judging

The following two areas of my nassau blue, blue int conv 65 ao smith car i believe to be factory original since my car had the original worn paint and interior,#1 my area below the wiper vents has very little blackout or more blue than black ,now the jg book say's complete area satin black should i change the area and paint it black or is this possible that other cars were this way.#2 the rear seat bolts and brackets on my car had blue on them also when i pulled the seats and original carpet. anyone else have this area painted car color, or should i clean the bolts of paint and paint the bracket satin black. Thanks again for everyone that has answered my post........jim

    Jim -

The area below the vent grilles should be blacked out; from your description, it might take a minor deduction for condition as is - depends how it looks.

The '65 rear seat brackets were originally dip-primed black, but they were installed in the Body Shop and typically picked up some color overspray when the body was painted - I'd leave it alone.

      Hi Jim
      Don't touch anything!
The area below the wiper grills had varying degrees of coverage.
The rear seat "U" retainer & hardware was in position before the car was painted. ('65's & "66's)
I would suggest that you hook-up with your local Chapter for an experienced close-up examination.

I agree with Mike, don't change a thing. I'm not a mid year guy but do I know the 68-72 cars had over spray around that wiper area. If you look very closely, you can see it on Patricks' 72 Bowtie. My original paint 69 has it also...

I agree, the air inlet area is an area that often had slim blackout coverage. Many originals look like they were "sorta" hit with black, leaving quite a bit of body color around the outer portions.

I don't think the seat rear "U" shaped brackets/bolts were in the body when it was painted though. Possible I suppose, but not likely.
