I had heard Krylon semi-gloss black was a good choice for frames, and semi-flat black for firewall and inner fender blackout. I can't find semi flat in local stores. Are there other recommendations for these paints? Is SEMS satin black a good option? Steve

Re: Paint recommendations for chassis & firewall blackout
Krylon K01613 is Semi-Flat Black. Only available from industrial type suppliers. Do Not use the Krylon 51613 from the retail suppliers. It is not the same formula and cannot be recoated.- Top

Steve
I like the SEM 39143 Trim Black. Any good Auto Paint store will have it.

Re: Paint recommendations for chassis & firewall blackout
Thanks for the input guys. Do you have recommedations for the brake booster, and chassis? Do you recommend an industrial version for those as well? Does anyone have a list of suggested paints / finishes for all items under the hood of a 1970? Steve- Top

Re: Paint recommendations for chassis & firewall blackout
Hi Steve,
There are many finishes used under the hood... painted, plated, and natural. The most complete list I've seen is in the 70-72 TECHNICAL INFORMATION MANUAL on page 105. The list has both chassis and under hood finishes. It's not complete, but is a good place to start, for info.
Getting to see a Bow-Tie car is really good way to see what the finishes are... up close.
