My grill wont fit

I had my front grill rechromed and when we put it back in the ring leaves a gap on top or the bottom showing the slots in the body.Is it possible the front ring shrunk from the heat when i chromed it?

Tony, you didn't state which year - but your profile says '57. Have you tried fitting it with teeth and all. Sometimes after rechroming the oval you have to "gently" use reverse clamps to slightly open the oval to get all the grille teeth black bars on. Gary....

Tony, as Gary states sometimes you have to "open" the grill oval. Years ago after a repaint I put my grill ring back in and I had a gap at the top allowing the semi-circles to show. As Gary said after putting black grill mounting bars in the oval will open up. Mine did to the original configuration. Just move slow and easy!
