    69 Brake Caliper Questions

I have a 350/350 with ss sleeved 547 prefix calipers. I am looking to replace them with correct 545 prefix calipers. In looking in the 1969 Assembly Manual the numbers are given as Front 5452266-7 and Rear as 5452268-9. In a previous post, 5452270;5452273 for Front and 5452281;5452284 for Rear were confirmed to be correct. From this, is the number in the Assembly Manual not related to the casting number that is on the caliper? Thanks in advance for any clarification/comments that anyone might post.

Any part number shown in the AIM for a caliper will be the part number for the caliper ASSEMBLY. This includes both caliper halves bolted together as well as other parts. This part number is shown nowhere on the caliper assembly. The numbers on the caliper halves are the part numbers for the caliper CASTINGS, sometimes called casting numbers.

      Re: 69 Brake Caliper Questions

Thanks for the clarification. I would like to follow-up with an additional question: Would the correct caliper castings for 1969 be 5452270 inner/5452273 outer for the Front and 5452281 inner/5452284 outer?
Thanks again for your comments and information.
