    Carter Afb Motorhead Question

    Got a pair of Carter AFBs that came with a 57 vette, 283 engine. I know they are not correct but does anyone know what they might be correct for? Tops are 6-1299, one body is 0-1221, the other 0-207 and bases are 1-1446.
    this is a serious motor head here.

    Thanks

    Re: Carter Afb Motorhead Question

    Ken;

    What you are asking about seems to be for Carter Model WCFB's, not AFB's. The AFB's are a two piece carburetor while the WCFB's are three piece. The body and base of an AFB are one piece. Maybe you should correct your thread and you'll get some responses from some of the C-1 owners who are familiar with the dual quad set ups with WCFB's.

      As Stu mentioned the carbs used on all 2 X 4 setups are WCFBs.
      AFBs were used on , Corvettes, 409 passenger cars (2 X 4) and Chrysler products and probably others.
      For the WCFB carbs in 1957, the bodies should be marked 049 and the tops were marked 6-1299. These numbers are for the 270 HP setup.
      The 245 HP setup also used the 049 mail body and a variety of tops including 6-1098, 6-1114, 6-1122, 6-1151 or 6-1156.
