I'm rebuilding the AFB Carburetor from my 1964 327/300hp and I found that both the primary and secondary throttle shafts have significant movement in the carb body. I'm sure it's enought to create a vacuum leak. There does not appear to be factory installed bushings in the body, it looks like the aluminum body was just machined to fit the shafts. I can't find a repair / bushing retrofit kit for this carb like those listed for Holley's and Quadrajets. Anybody know what will work for the AFB. I'm sure Holley's custom shop would take care of it but I'm enjoying doing it myself. My carb is a 3721, with body number 0-1552.

Re: AFB Throttle Shaft Bushing kit?
Jeff, If you do a google search there is a supplier that has the special tools and makes a kit.. From reading, I think McMaster carr has the thin bronze bushings.
I can't offer any more than this because I never purchased the kit. I am scared to mess up a vintage carburetor.- Top

Re: AFB Throttle Shaft Bushing kit?
If you are able to find such a kit, be sure to post the information on the TDB. Also, make sure it has instructions and that you follow them closely, beginning with how to take the throttle plates out.
BTW, the 3721S (A & B) are plentiful at reasonable costs (I have two myself, incl. one spare) compared to say the 3461S for a 63. If your 64 was a late year build, most any date preceding your build date should be fine. There are plenty that were built after 64 as it was the service replacement for 63 - 65 until production ceased. My main carb is dated "E9" (1969 or 1979??).
