C2 license plate lamp bulb #?

This should be an easy one (I hope), what is the bulb # for the license plate lamp on a midyear? I can't seem to find this in any of my literature.

    Thank you!

Hi, look in back of owners manual at lamp section, it's an 1155.

1155, eh? Gee, a copy of the '63 Chevy Owner's manual I pulled calls for a # 67 lamp. Curiously, that jives with the '63 Corvette Shop Manual's specification table...

        Yes Jack, 67 for 1963, 1155 for 64, he owns a 66 so would look in a 66 manual.

GM says ALL bulbs changed for the new 64 model year. (and later) I don't know if that "ALL" really means all, as in the license plate lamp, but it may be worth looking into.

I know the headlamps and all parking/tail lamps also changed part number for 64 and later.

You ARE correct for a '66! But, I keyed off the subject icon you selected for your reply citing the 1155. The icon said 63-64...

Still, it doesn't matter because the lamp numbers changed in general from 1963 and older with the introduction of the '64 models.

The replacement lamps were typically a bit brighter than the earlier PN's they replaced. But, they're not transparent drop-in replacements when it comes to things like turn signal flash rates. There, you need to match the exterior lamps to the original flasher to get the correct blink rate...

But, for general illumination purposes, the later era substitutes fit and function A-OK.

GM changed all of the bulbs AND all of the wiring harnesses for the new 64 model. The new wiring was designed to support the increased load/draw of all the new lamps.
Probably not an issue but engineering thought enough of it to make the changes.

My copies of the 1965 Owners Manual and Shop Manual Supplement both call for a 4 candle power #67 bulb. These manuals were obtained thru Helm in the early 70's.

My mistake was hitting the 63/64 icon for my answer. Knowing we were talking about a 66 I put in my 64 on info for the lamp number. My original owners manual and 64 shop manual reflects a 1155 4 cp lamp for 64 and I assumed up to 66. Gee, it was a simple question!

Owners manual huh? Well you caught me with my pants down on this one, I was checking service manuals and everything else I had in my bag of tricks and for some reason I never even thought to look there

Well, it made for an interesting discussion none the less.

                    Thanks,
                    Steve
