Hey Roy - Accessory Ideas for Your 55

The long-time owner of 53 #276 installed a hot wire - outlet plug setup in the car. As you can see in the attached pic, the outlet is next to the passenger side courtesy light. This outlet powered the dome lights in the custom built hardtop. The outlet also powered a handheld spotlight.

Anybody else running an outlet plug setup in their early Corvette? Roy??

(And yes, I am planning on rewiring the car soon, which will require a great deal of custom wiring. And I will keep the 6 volt setup).

That's a Scott top made in Glendale Ca. Pretty neat how he modified it. I use that area to plug in my Vintage vacuum cleaner , I mounted it at the front of the heater. The hand held spot light plugged into the lighter. Now you can also be known as the accessory GUY!

      Thanks Roy.

I knew that GM made a portable spotlight. I'm baffled why Dave Elie would modify a spotlight to work with a prong-outlet rather than just buy the GM spotlight for the cig lighter.

Since Elie drove a lot in the mountains during the winter time, I suspect the spotlight could come in handy however.

What type of connector does your vacuum cleaner use? My guess is that the cleaner uses a cig lighter, and that you mounted a second cig lighter outlet next to your heater box. Do I have that right?

The hardtop is heavy - takes two to install and remove. The window is real glass - thick too.

The vacuum works on engine vacuum ,the connector is at that location. You need these racing mirror so you can see other Corvette catching up to you
My 55 also has the GM Perry radiator filter , it has the same original radiator 54 years.

Roy, I have never seen or heard of a Perry radiator filter. I assume it filters the coolant of rust, etc.?? Where is it mounted?

          Thanks!
