I have an early 63 coupe with the deep wells under the seats. I need information and pictures as to how the carpet is cut around the well. Does it have a binding around the cut carpet edge and should there be a section of carpet in the well. If yes, should the section of carpet in the well have a binding

Re: 63 coupe carpet
Richard.....In the latest 63-64 Judging Guide there's a photo of the carpet and how it is cutout for the wells. It appears in the photo the cut edges around the well do not have the binding. There is no carpet in the wells either.

Re: 63 coupe carpet
Thank you for the detail. It is greatly appreciated. I will take a look at the photo. I have had this car since 1965 and the detail you provided is what I think I remember of the carpet installation. The problem is that much time has pasted and several restorations so it gets a bit fussy.- Top

Re: 63 coupe carpet
Richard, Get a hold of Bill Sangrey as he does seminars on midyear carpets. When I buy a new repro carpet for my 63 coupe someday that's what I plan on doing. Someone here can tell you how to reach Bill. John- Top

Richard, I can offer this photo I got from Jerry Bramlett. (Sorry if I mis spelled your name Jerry.) I is very helpful and shows how crude this operation was done..The other photo is in this archives post.

Re: 63 coupe carpet
Richard, I just looked at your profile and see you are in NJ. Lets make this easy for you. Dennis Spaulding just had his repro carpet done over using originals as a template. He seems to be really up on the 63 carpet info. Denny lives in NJ also. Email me at johndegreg@aol.com and I will put you two together. Not saying you are not getting good info from the fellows here though. Just saying that ironically one of my customers and friends lives near you and is doing the same thing as you. John D.- Top
