    Late 69

I am looking at a late 69 car built Oct 69 my freind is thinking about buying the car. Everything seems to check out. My question is being that the 69 Corvettes had a extra 4 mos of production. The transmission is stamped P0R17B with the correct vin # . Since all of the other GM cars that were getting there transmissions from the Muncie plant were in the 1970 model year. Would this would be correct? Even though the judging manual states that the year should be the current model year for example
P0R17B would code out to be
    P Muncie HD 4 Sp
    0 1970 Model Year
    R October
    17 Date
    B M-21
So any Corvette built after Mid Aug 69 or once they ran out of inventory would have a 0 for model year?

Thanks for the responses. So far based on these 2 answers this cars transmission was replaced and the vin # restamped on tranny? Could it have been a bad trans replaced under warranty and dealer restamped vin # ? So all 69 Corvettes trans were stamped P9 and date of assembly. Did GM order the Muncie plant to build transmissions for the Corvette and continue stamping them as 69 model transmissions?

Larry -- are you sure you're reading that month code correctly ? "K" is July, and for your December car, that's quite a stretch. What are the last 5th, 4th and 3rd digits of your VIN ? [ie 372xx] And what is the casting number on the top line of the maincase (passenger side) ? 3925660, or ...661 ?

Anthony, I've tried to attach an old photo of the trans number. My first try at this. I no longer have the casting number written down, the car is long gone to a new owner. The Vin was 38305, built the last week of 1969 production.

                Anthony,

My 70 LT1, build date Feb 5, 1970, has an M21 with a P0A21B date. Are you sure that the year is "0" and not "9" on the transmission? Were it a "9", the rest of the dating would fit. Double check, and look closely at the year.
