    1970 belts

Which alternator came standard with a 70 L46 with no AC or PS? DO I have a standard alternator or a 70 amp? Does anyone sell OEM belts for this car? THanks

Your alternator should be a 1100900. Check with Quanta for a reproduction belt selection.

Tom..thanks for responding so quickly. Is that part number the 70 amp? The description for the belts read w/70 amp or without 70 amp alternator and the belts are different I guess. THanks

        Re: 1970 belts

Your copy of the 1970-72 Judging Guide Book defines three Delco Remy alternators used in '70.

        (1) 1100901, 42 Amp, Base 300 HP
        (2) 1100900, 42 Amp, 350 & 390 HP
        (3) 1100884, 61 Amp, All with A/C or LT1

There was no 70 amp alternator used on Corvette in the '70-72 era...

The L46 (350hp) car without C60 (A/C), used the 1100900 alternator (along with the LS5 390 hp big block w/o C60), this alternator is rated for 42 amps. The base car (300hp) without A/C, used the 1100901 alternator which is also 42 amps. The only other original alternator used in 1970 was the 1100884, which was used with all cars with C60 and all LT1 applications. The 1100884 was rated at 61 amps.

            Sorry Chris !

I should have specified the 42 amp rating in my response. Best of luck with your project !

              Re: 1970 belts

Thanks guys...only reason I was asking about a 70 amp alternator was because a couple of the Corvette parts catalogs specifically state with or without the 70 amp alternator so I assumed there was one. My black book gives the part number, but not the amps. THanks again, now I know what I'm going after.
