    091 coil

    I stripped the paint of what i thought was an original coil and found 235 br stamped in to the side could someone please tell me what it means because 091 is stamped into the other side down low

    It means the last three numbers in the actual part number for the coil were 235 or whatever, not 091

            I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Is there two sets of embossed numbers.??? Did someone braze an 091 tag onto a 235 coil. ??? Lots of creative restorers out there.

                Is the 091 stamped into the coil surface or raised on the surface like a correct coil?

                  The 091 is raised from the inside out the top pad is raised with the holes the 235 br looks like it was stamped

                    you state in your original post that you stripped the paint off the coils exterior. what color is the metal? Copper? Cold steel? early repo cans( with 091 embossed in their metal )to slip over a non-091 coil were copper composition. mike
