I have resently started to research my 57 and was wondring if some would be able to help me with the vin code E57S104436. I know the E is the model,57is the year and S is for the assmebley plant in St Louis. I was wanting to know if someone knew what the 104436 part ment. I would like to restore it to origainl condistion but need to know what that was. Will the Vin tell me color at time of sell. Any one who could help this next genaration of corvette owners with infomation would much appreciated

Re: Vin codes for C1
The 104436 is a sequential number starting at 100001, indicating what number the car was in the build sequence which will also yield a approx. build date.
Other then that the vin tells nothing about the car, color, options etc.
The car itself can tell you some of its history hopefully.
Look for paint in sort of hidden areas, holes for power window or top relays, and other telltail signs.
Good luck.
Hopefully some of the 57 experts will add to this info.
Brad,
Your car was born on about June 6, 1957.

Now that you're a member, if you buy a judging manual from the NCRS store (best $30 you'll spend in a long time) you will have a resource that will take months to digest, and help you with many/most of your questions.

Re: Vin codes for C1
Brad,
I agree with Mike, buy the judging manual and you will have plenty of info on your model year. Also a copy of Noland Adams Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide Vol. #1 is a great reference book. The NCRS store can fix you up with these. The more books the better.

Re: Vin codes for C1
Brad,
Thats to cool that the car has been in your family since 1980.
The Forum does not allow the sale of parts. Although check the NCRS Driveline for lots of part advertisements.
Possibly an online NCRS parts site will be available in the future.

Brad, look on the top blue menu bar for Driveline On-Line. Logon to that and you can view the current Driveline issue. It's a searchable pdf file. Welcome to NCRS! There are alot of us '57 on the TDB. Best, Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter

Brad......welcome and congratulations being a '57 owner. It's great that it's been in the family so long.
Can you post some pictures of it? If you need help check the FAQ section above. Just make sure the filesizes are not too large when you take the photos.
