Be advised that the replacement may still be "caught" during judging. If so, then there are issues.

Before you buy a replacement I would highly recommend contacting Roy Sinor, Judging Chairman. He will be able to advise you on how to document the car prior to replacing the Trim Tag, and what the correct procedure would be if you intend to have the car judged at some time in the future.

You had better define "authentic." Your definition will make the rest of your decisions easier.
