Thought someone mentioned this in an earlier post, so I decided to dig into my parts bin today for this photo.

Might help someone - you don't see these too often. (Painted cap with no hole drilled in the 1/4 trim panel)

Doug I am very interested in the caps. Ihave some questions about them, are they metal or plastic and would they be for sale? Bob

They are metal, but not for sale - possibly one of the rarest of the unique '63 only items, in my opinion. It seems that after a few slams of the door, they would simply fall off, thus the need for the stainless screw-on replacements in the later '63's convts.
These go with my car I am presently restoring - also a black/red '63. I have the original white glass trim panels and the orignal red pinch welt.

I've had the car now for over 20 years.

Doug thanks for your response and i have a question about your cars build date to see when maybe the caps changed over to chrome and screws. I bought my car new and it was del in Oct of 62 with vin# 618 so is your car before or after?

My early Feb '63 (83XX) has the simple press-fit welt cap.

63 vin # 9552 had these on it in the 80's when I owned it.

My car was built in late December '62.
