In a earlier post I pointed out how to tell a original cap from a repro by showing the original cap the OIL "O" will touch the straight de-tent line.The repro don't. But there is another oil cap used on some cars where the "O" does BUT it has a button in it's center that the Corvette dint have and the spring tangs are shorter . So when buying your oil cap look to see this difference and get the right Corvette cap. bottom pic. is original Corvette oil cap.

I do the same about parts I read about that I din't know. You have a great idea and hope other do the same.
