a lot of people like me think the ZO-6 is overpriced and they are a hard sell used because you can buy a brand new regular corvette for less money. my dealer would not even take ZO-6 in on trade because they just sat on the lot. plus a lot of people think they have been run extra hard. unless you do track days or autocross there is not much advantage to own one. i for one do not like the hard ride and replacing tires every 6/8K miles is out of my budget.

I just heard a very, very reliable update today. Right now Chevrolet is trying to figure out if it's possible to run "only" ZR1s for a couple of weeks as that is where the demand is.

FYI, I was also told that there are some very nice changes in store for 2010.

        Patrick, does this sound correct?
        2010 Corvette Facts

So, what do we really know about the 2010 Corvette?
The 2010 Corvette will be another C6, with likely the same four models to be offered: Coupe, Convertible, Z06, and ZR1. Also keep in mind, though, that Vette, "America's Favorite Corvette Magazine," stated in a blog back on January 21, that "industry sources" were indicating that Chevrolet would announce a 2010 Grand Sport at the new model preview in April! That would make five exciting models!
We are still hoping to see the C7 no later than the 2012 Model Year, but that is less sure now than before.

It is expected that the powertrains will not change for 2010, and that there will be no new technologies being inaugurated on the 2010. A Grand Sport might change all that.
In regard to color, we know that Victory Red Metallic is gone, but since Red has a long and fabled history with Corvette, there will have to be a new Red for the year.
Dealers discover their allocations on May 20, will be allowed to order on May 21, and hope to have complete ordering information soon. The first day of production is scheduled to be June 22.
We will report additional information as it becomes available, perhaps after that April preview.

My source stated that those with 2005-7 C6s would be very tempted to trade them in once the 2010s came out. He would not give further info, so the source you link may not be correct.

              Third UPDATE installment

This is the week we had the trip planned to the museum and factory travelling from Seattle. One of the couples has family in Mississippi, so they made the trip anyway.

They were at both the museum and factory yesterday. The front gate to the factory was open,,, employees parking lot, (estimated to hold 800-1,000 cars) had four cars in it. All big doors closed,,, virtually no movement what so ever. In his words... "ghost town like" Very little information available. Museum workers told, it was a temporary shutdown to "realign" production schedules with the Cadilac" huh huh...right!

No definition of "temporary" nor any announced start up date. Given recent events of CEO change, lots of talk about Bankruptcy, no anticipated start up date..... doesn't seem to have any light in the tunnel!!

I take that as not a good sign for the ZR1 for 2011,12 ??

i don't think GM will build any more cars that have a "gas guzzler tax" with the present administration looking over their shoulder. JMHO

Tom, the BG Corvette line is running a +/- two week on / two week off production schedule that currently has the line down. It is scheduled to come back up around 15 April. Latest word I have from the NCM delivery team (9 April) was that the Corvette production schedule through 27 April is known. I understand they are building sold cars only. Unfortunately, my car (not a ZR1!) is not yet scheduled....
                    Best regards,

I have a sold ZR1 coming off the line Tuesday, 4/21. I will be in the plant when the car rolls off as part of the buyer's tour with the new owner. It will be in the 850 VIN range. Should be a neat experience ! I've been to the plant dozens of times, but this is the first time I will actually be there with the owner when the car is finished.
