Windshield molding clips - which ones?

    Hello all,
I'm getting ready to drop the windshield into my '66. I ordered lower molding clips from Long Island, but subsequently read that only Paragon's US made clips are accurate (the imports can cause all kinds of installation problems). I've compared the catalog photos of the Paragon clips to the LI clips, and cannot discern any difference, other than Paragon's being stamped with a "WT" and LI's with an "AWT". The clips from both suppliers cost the same (more than Paragon's import versions), leading me to believe that the LI clips may be okay. Unfortunately, the original clips are not available for comparison. Any thoughts based on the LI clips shown below?
    Much thanks!

    Jeff -

The original clip is available for the conv. GM p/n 3904931.

Unless it's discontinued in the past two weeks, my system still shows it being a good part number.

The issue is price! With the Great Beast trying to stay on top water they have been very crazy with prices of late. They are around 5.00 per clip and they have not changed in the past twenty years to my knowledge.

      Jeff: the secret is...

Install the lower molding on your roadster BEFORE popping the glass in.

I did use Paragon's clips - worked fine. Glass was from Auto City Classic, rubber was CRC via LICS.

        Ernie,
That's good to know, but YIKES! Even with my club discount, that's still expensive. If I go with the Paragon clips ($18 for 11), I can easily justify a good case of beer for the difference (not enough for an Abbey Ale, but certainly a good IPA). If I'm lucky, someone might still be able to confirm that my LI clips are the same as Paragon's US clips. In the meantime, I have a friend hunting through his misc parts and I'm hopeful that he can come up with some originals. Thanks for the reply.

          Mike,
I'll be working with a glass installer who is familiar with midyears. At the risk of sounding like I know what I'm doing, I'll suggest it to him.
          Thanks!

            Repro's can be found here, I use them. . . http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...ducts_id=23954

Jeff, The windshield is easy to install yourself. If the clips are in the car you can do it in about 30 minutes. You don't use a rope on this one, but there really is nothing that hard about it.
