Gas Tank Replacement for a '54

The gas tank on my recently acquired '54 needs to be replaced. After sitting for so many years it has an inch of crud on the inside and some weak and rusted areas on the bottom.

I see Quanta tanks back to '56 but nothing earlier. Anyone know of a source for early C1 gas tanks or if a '56 tank will fit?

A friend of mine with a 54 used a 62 gas tank. If I remember correctly he had to bend some of the corner pieces to get it to fit but other then that it fit fine. The tank was a vented tank with baffles which is an improvement not on 54 tanks. I think late 57 is when the baffles were introduced.

53-55 gas is pulled from the right bottom area 57 up it's pulled from the sender, buy 57 have the tank drilled like your 54 outlet clamp off the vent line and you have a 54
