on a 365hp 65 model was there lock washers used on the water pump bolts , it shows in the assembly manual that they remove the bolt and reuse the same bolt on the alternater bracket and that shows a lockwasher, so that bolt and lwasher should be engine color(orange) I dont think the other bolts used lwashers ,but why one on the alt brk bolt, could anyone let me know the correct way......jim

Jim----
I believe the only bolt that had the lockwasher was the one for the alternator brace. Presumably, the reason for the lockwasher is to "lock" the brace bolt since the brace "resides" between the pump casting and the bolt head. This was common GM practice for this sort of assembly. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Jim-----
I don't recall that it was painted. However, as I just checked the AIM and based on what it shows, the washer should be painted. So, I can't say, for sure, one way or the other. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
