    1970 Lt-1 engine photographs

Hello all.....Does anyone have, or would anyone be willing to take a couple of snaps of their Lt-1 motor w/o the air-cleaner on. I would love to see detailed snaps of the right side carb-tcs-choke tower side, and the throttle linkage side as well. I want to make sure I have everything routed correctly....vacuum lines, electrical connections, etc. I would be most appreciative of any helpful photographs anyone could provide. Thanks very much, have a great weekend, Jim

Jim: I think you will enjoy this picture. (Of course this one going into a Z28 not a Corvette)

        Dave,

I could not help but notice the newer style shielding and single wire off the engine harness to the temp sensor in the right hand side of the block.

My harness is the same. What is the build date of the LT1 in the picture?

Also, what is the routing of the wire on the harness to the temp sensor.

Mine had headers and there was no jumper from wire to sensor.

        Thanks,

        Bill Lennox

          Bill,
My LT-1 is VIN # 14803 - July 8 build. It has the later style one pioece shielding. I believe the 3 piece shielding stopped around VIN # 11,750. Hopefully the photo will answer your question about the routing of the green wire. I also included a photo of the fuel line bracket that was in an earlier thread.

There should be no difference in the routing of that green TCS temp sensor wire among any of the small blocks for 1970, and only minor difference fror a large motor.

We are anticipating 3 to 6-inches of the white stuff tonight, so I don't imaging digging my way into the garage this weekend is in the cards.

Thank you Dave. Simple enough. I just need the jumper wire.

Mine is #11,327. Most all of the original shielding was missing. The only original pieces were the supports which indicate a single piece top like yours. I guess mine is in that gray area as far as the shielding.

                Bill,
I had an LS-5 that was #11756 and it had the three piece shielding but it surely could have been either way for a period during the 11,000 VIN's.

Here are a couple of pictures of a 1970 LT1 with the early distributor shield. Not as prety as Dave's, but it will show the early/late 1970 ignition shield differences.
