1972 Original Tire?

I have a spare tire that was locked in the tire bucket for many years as the person I purchased the 72' vette from had no Idea there was a spare tire located on the vehicle. I was curious if it is an original factory tire. The tread is excellent but it leaks air from rim bead. No damage to rim.
Tire reads as follows, P225 70 R15 Custom Goodyear Poly Steel radial, 5plies- 2 poly-2 steel-1 nylon TPC specs 1033. Any help would be much appreciated.

Absolutely not the original. 225 is a rating that came in much later. 72 tires were all F70x15.

Yes, not an original tire for '72. This is a radial tire that was first available on the Corvette in 1973. The metric sizing and lettering of this tire I believe was 1979 on Corvette. Also the change over from sizing GR70-15 to metric P225-15 was again 1979.

The replacement tire size that most owners use on '72 Corvette for driving is the P225R-15.

A modern replacement size for the F 70 15 tire would be 215 x 70 x15 tire.
