OT: Blue lights on red lights

I'm in Orlando now on my way to see van steel to rivet on a ball joint.

There are new bright blue lights on top of a lot of the signal lights. The blue lights seem to be on only when the red lights are on. Anyone know what these blue lights are for?

I live here and I didn't even know that. We have had a terrible problem here with the "new to civilization" or "out of state" people not knowing what RED means in Florida. It is probably the #1 cause of accidents here and has me looking both ways before I proceed on GREEN since moving here. They are installing cameras at many of the intersections that have had the most problems, but many fought that long and hard as an invasion of their rights (then they went and voted for it nationally).

I thought the blue lights were something to do with the cameras because I know the only way the Police ever paid any attention to the RED light runners is when they got hit broadside.

I'm hoping you were stopped at one of those "blue" lights when you typed your post!

p.s. wife and I were in the Orlando area yesterday and she asked me what they were for. Now I know too.

Good thing Dan straigtened me out. I would have tried to log on with WiFi on those blue lights
