I had the opportunity to drive a new SS on Sunday. One of the guys from our local Corvette community is an exec at the Oshawa plant and he had it for the weekend. My friend and I thought we were just going to have a look at it when he threw us the keys and said "have fun."

Nice car. A little heavy, doors come up really high, roof feels really low, back seat is pretty much useless. Fit and finish was impressive. Loved the metallic orange paint.

We got lots of admiring looks.

That looks nice, I wonder how close the orange will match with my 69. I have a training session with GM next week that is all on the new camaro they are supposed to have a couple cars there to go through. We have been taking orders for the car now since November.

Re: Ready to Order Your New Camaro?

Went to a local dealer to place an order. They wanted a non-refundable check for $1,000 which I had no problem with but could not tell me the price until (1) week before delivery, inwhich they could not tell me when that would be.

I asked if there was to be a premium ontop of the sticker, etc. His only reply is that decision had not been made yet but they are a reputable dealership and you could trust the deal would be fair! Blah, Blah, Blah.

That is when I stood up and left.

I dont know what that dealers policy is but we asked customers for a deposit of $2000 refundable if we were unable to get the car. Pricing has been out a few months now $36995 plus frieght and tax for an SS1 (Canadian Price) We have placed orders for customers already, and yes there is some uncertanty to the price of a few options but not enough to really cause any worry. If anyone has more questions I will do my best check it out for you. Also should know some more info next week.

                      Justin,
If you don`t need to be the first guy on the block to have one, then just be patient. Before long they will be sitting on the lots with the white stuff on them that is next to this one. Take note of all the previously hot fellow Mustangs and Challengers that are begging for homes!

I find GM management to be VERY entertaining. They say that nobody will buy a car from GM if they are in bankruptcy so that is not an option. Why does management THINK anyone would buy anything from a company so poorly managed????

With the bailout GM has already received and the brass balls to go ask for another $30 Billion, there is no way in hell that I would buy anything from a company this poorly managed and operated. Since MANAGEMENT directly sets the direction for engineering, design, manufacturing and quality why should I have ANY confidence in ANYTHING GM manufactures? I have lost any and all confidence in ANY newly designed, engineered and manufactured vehicle offered by General Motors!!!!

This organization is bankrupt. The only people who have not realized this are management and the employees!

                          Mike,
GM has ridden on the coat tails of other manufacturers for years. They can`t seem to time the introduction of product. This new Camaro is much too late. Many loyal Camaro customers were lost to the new Mustang and Challenger. Ford and Chrysler sold these cars with premiums over MSRP. Many of the people that would now consider a new Camaro are upside down in the competitive product. Good luck trying to sell them! Same thing with HHR vs PT Cruiser , Venture Van vs Caravan, Silverado vs F150. The only thing that has led the pack in value for the dollar and technology is the Vette. And don`t look for the numbers of those sold to save GM. Still haven`t learned the lesson with product duplication yet either. Why did Chevy need the Traverse with GMC, Saturn and Buick all producing the same thing!?!

A friend of mine put an order in about 2 months ago for a SS, about a month later changed the order to elimanate the chrome wheels option when he heard the final wheel price will be over $4000.00. He got a letter a few weeks ago from GM thanking him for his order.
