Missing rear parking brake lever pins or bolts

Does anyone know where I can get a set of pins or bolts used to hold down the parking brake lever to the brake shoe?

Is the parking brakelever suppose to pivot when it is pulled? I can probably find a replacement pin.

I do not want to replace the set of parking brake levers since I have a set which will work. Plus, I have spent enough $$$ on extra parts. I have seen two different methods on holding in the parking brake. The original looks like it was a bolt and a nut which holds it in place. The replacement parts are using a pin with a clip holding the pin in place. The pin is groved in the bottom of the pin where the bolt is not.

    See step 04:

1953-60 Corvettes used parking brake levers with a special bolt for retention. 1961-64 Corvettes used levers with an integral pin which was used with a retainer. You can obtain a set of 61-64 replacement levers with integral pins from sources like Dr. Rebuild and they are not very expensive, at all (about 30 bucks).

I know I can buy a new set for 30.00. I would rather make use of the ones I have. Lately, I am find duplicate parts. For instance, I have 10 rear axle ubolts. Too many duplicate parts. Plus, I have already spent enough on small parts like these. I think I have a good solution. Sorry, I just want to avoid having to order more duplicate parts is all.

        Jim,
Can you post a picture of what you need or e mail it to me? I have a couple of C-1 brake setups and will give you what you need if I can identify it. Rich jcmsp062@aol.com

When working on old Corvettes, one almost always ends up with a lot of "extra parts". That's the nature of it.

As far as the parking brake levers go, what is wrong with the ones you have now? If the pins are worn, there are only 2 options I know of: (1) purchase new levers with integral pins since the pins are not now or ever were available separately, or (2) find a used set of levers in good shape, such as the offer Rich has made.

Be thankful that you don't have a 1960 or older model. I don't know of a source for the special bolts or levers used for these models.

I bought a set from mary jo. The parking brake levers did not come with the pins. My car is a complete basket case, there were no rear brakes on the car when I bought the project. Over the years, I have been buying rear brake parts. Now, I am at the point of putting on the rear brakes. I will get some pictures together.

yeah, though sometimes I have found I bought incomplete parts. Part of learning...

            For instance,
I bought the incorrect wheel cylinders different brake line fitting size (not 3/8). I am missing the wheel cylinder thrusters and brake spreader springs. I bought two rear brake block when I should have only bought one. Plus, bought extra anchor pins. I probably thought the anchor pins were what I needed in the first place. I will make sure to provide a picture of what I have right now.

You may have the 53-60 levers. These had a no pins; only a hole for the special shouldered bolt. As I mentioned, I don't think the pins (for the 61-64 applications) were ever available as a separate part. If they were, I can find no record of it.

I figured out a method to put these levers onto the brake shoe without loosening up. It is not correct nor is it bubbafied. I can always change it some time later if the parking brakes do not properly work.
